Weeeeee

Oh, I'm still here. This is what is consuming me: Making silk pillowcases for my Aunt, restoring a crochet table cloth for my mother- and I not a proficient crochet person, and my sister's quilt. How did this happen that I am the only woman the least bit interested in sewing, art, etc.. in my family? My Grandmother Leola was an awesome seamstress and crocheter. I miss her so much. Here are some pic. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Morning

Hi again. Got my craft on this morning. I repurposed a couple of frames and a pillow for my favorite Green Door thrift shop to sell. So I put the words "fish wife" on a grafic for the pillow, because I think "Oh, how cute." I love to eat at that restaurant down in Monterey. But then I looked up the meaning! It means winer. I think that is so funny. The whole purpose for putting the fish on the pillow was so some fisherman guy would buy it for his wife! I still like it, though. Also, it was my birthday.

Here I am with my little one just abou to eat cake. We also took a trip to Apple Hill. This is the Larson's Farmhouse and water wheel. I don't think I ever got out of my jammies this morning. That's what I call a craftin mojo morning. bbfn

shears and deers

Had a fun trip to see all the family and friends I could sqeeeeze in to a week. Lunch dates, dinners, more dinners, and thankfully, a few naps thanks to the babysitters. (That being Ms. Jamie and Grandpa and Nana.) Now that I'm back, I dug right in and pulled together some frames for The Green Door. I forgot to photograph them. But, Rachelle gave me more frames that had been donated to them to do more. I love to recycle. I found two cheap white frames in my storage unit. I put a cool graphic in them, added some ribbon. They were cute. I was inspired by Cloth paper and scissors January '07 issue. Photos next time.

Today I bought Monarch shears at an antique store for $5. Is that a good price? Also I found some little deer to give for a gift. I have also started Mitzi's quilt again. It is a nightmare. I cut it out wrong. I'm having to piece together some parts to make up pieces. There will be all these extra seams now. Whatever! Would love to take those shears to that quilt! bfn

cAtCh Up

First off, please say a prayer for Courtney. Without too many details, she has suffered a grave loss. I am achey inside for her and teary just writing about it.

I will be leaving for a few days, and I wanted to post some pics of my work, my thrifting treasures, and so on. I have been working my day job so much, I haven't been able to keep up. My blog was looking bleak.
My very first ATC's.

Remember my little birds? Well, I have been thrifting some pretty posh abodes for the little darlings. Now my house is filling up..What do I do? I can't leave them homeless..

Next, some Halloween thrift treasures, a darling little vintage baby blanket with silky backing, baby high stool, and a linen tapestry and alphabet box.

You see, I was busy. I'm also crafting at present. I will share those will you a little later. We are taking the wee one to see his Grandma, Nana, Grandpa, cousins. I get to see some of my dear friends I haven't seen for a while. Can't wait to share some more with you when I return. ttfn.

Derrick my Friend

Just a tiny shout out to Derrick. He claims to have lost his thrifting and crafting mojo. Huh! He got me going back in the day to thrifting again. Love you, Derrick. Come back to the light....there's so much to make. xoxoxoxoxXo

Weimar Retreat

I had a fun weekend at Weimar, CA at a Women's Retreat Sponsored by Sparks Women's Ministries. We took a lush hike and saw these berries. Walked through tunnels made of brush. I had a very beautiful room mate, Judy P. And here is a picture of the Women's Ministry Leaders, Miss Edna, Juanita, and myself. The women there really showed my how to pray and not be so shy about it! They were awesome. The messages were well done. And I look forward to next year.

Wait a minute!

Before on Left.

Yep, I needed a change. I went from this to this. Not sure if I like it. But when I got up this morning, it didn't look like a wig.

After ob right.

Going to Weimar for a women's retreat this weekend. I'll snap some pics of the event. I will sorely miss the Candy Dance. But if I work hard this year, perhaps next year I'll be ready for my own booth. Just keep craftin, just keep craftin, just keep craftin.

Little shout out to my girls in Ohio, Kimm, Katie, Kerry and Kendra. Hope you are able to find my blog. Look around at all these amazing people blogging out there. I spend hours looking through wonderful stories and handmade and thrifted treasures. Now, if only my girlfriends were here...

And a few more pics for fun.....

summer gone bye

Inching out the last few days of summer. Still sewing, making jewelry. Sold a cool piece to my sweet friend Michelle. Throwing down a love shout out to Cheryl. So funny that I know no one reads the blog. I'm going to start counting the posts so I can have an anniversary and give away. I already have a little cute something...

Cha cha cha

Eww, I've been sick and it's been awful. And isn't that the time when you have so many engagements? showers, appointments, meetings ets..I could sleep for a week (like Sissy here) and still sleep some more. My new friend here gave me these glorious beads. She is a fabulous artist, Tango Beads, and she was just sharing. She's like that I can see. I don't even know where to begin with the little gems. I just like touching them...I started Mitzi's quilt. I have pics to post when it is done. It's tougher than I thought it was going to be. I'm tickeled that Women's Ministry went so well. I'll keep you posted on that as well. Now, it's time to do the cha cha with all this energy. ta ta

Muffin Man

Some days we must have muffins. This is the muffin man. He picks out the baking cups, stirs the batter, and then he adds sprinkles. All muffins have a little sprinkle. Then I must wrestle and trick the sprinkles from the hand of the muffin man. He has been known to devore sprinkles as though they were one of the major food groups. My muffin man, he is so awesome. Sorry about the chandelier again. Just getting my barings on downloading pics. Isn't he great?

Here is the chandelier. It is cuter in person. Kristin, I think you'd be proud. Still wish I'd been able to attend the class.

Here are a few of the little birds. They are so adorable. I'm not sure how I will use them yet.
Here is my chandelier. Terrible photo. I think the ribbon is too light to capture against a light background. Maybe I'll give it another shot no pun hahah.
I like this blogging stuff. I'm short on time today however. Have a super weekend. tata

now what

Iwas visiting a christian online magazine and found this terrific artist. Now I can't find her again. I was going to add her to my blog list. I am obsession because I just can't find her. She was repurposing furniture and jewelry and was just my style.

Maybe later..We are CPR certified and one step closer to a new love.

I am anxiously awaiting that camera charger...I bought Roman an egg beater today. He turned the crank and marveled at the mechanical wonder in his hand. I knew he would love it..

more color please

Well, well, I found another thrift store yesterday. Assistance League's shop was entertaining. I found a couple of must-have treasures. First, two prayer books @ .10 cents each. When I returned home, I noticed a zipper compartment on one. It contained a marvelous mother of pearl rosary. Also I found a quilt. It is jacked up due to improper construction. I may reconstruct it. I was already headed to start a new quilt for Mitzi anyway. I could fit it in. I was able to shoot it for you. Of course Roman insisted he belonged in the photo. I agree.

I finished the chandelier. But in order to photograph the thing I had to purchase a charger. Since Disneyland in May I haven't been able to find the retched thing.

How is it that the work of Kaffe Fassett has escaped me? Had a Joann's coupon and bought up Quilt Road. Amazing. This book must be by my side at all times until the shear essence of it is taken in by osmosis....

Now about those birds of mine, as soon as the charger comes I will stage them for you all. they are truly sweet.

Mrs. Robinson

kristin, you were right. Jesse Reno is a dimensional feast for the eyes..an aaaah moment. My chandelier is almost completed.

I found a magnificent menagerie of birds while thrifting over the weekend. I will upload photos when I am able....

It is a good day to start sharing.
